A few words...
I have been making photo albums for 15 years now, since my oldest granddaughter was 1 year old. I started making cards with the scraps because I did not want to be wasteful. At first, I struggled and threw more than a few of the cards away because I "messed them up". Over time, I learned creative ways to cover up my mistakes and also learned that even though I might not like a particular design or color, someone else did. I sold many of my cards at my granddaughters' school and the funds went to help pay their tuition. I seldom buy a card these days. Instead I just go to my "stash" and choose the appropriate card for the occasion. My youngest granddaughter who is 9 years old makes her own cards for friends for their birthdays. She also makes her own thank you notes and sends them out. From my perspective, that is a positive outcome of this fun hobby.
